Where to stay in Yamanashi
Where you spend the night shapes most of this trip, on both the two-day and the three-day route. Choose the area first, based on what you want the trip to be about, then the hotel or ryokan. We have checked every option here against the plans, so you can still make the morning train or the drive to the lake.

Which night you are booking
On the two-day route there is one night, and both plans stay at Shimobe-Onsen.
On the three-day route the first night is about convenience — Kofu, Isawa-Onsen or the Fruit Park hotel — and the second is the choice that shapes the trip.
Shimobe-Onsen is the usual choice: the hour-by-hour three-day plans stay there, and it lets you save Lake Motosu for whichever of the two days has the better forecast. Koan puts you on the shore of Lake Motosu, but you need a car, it locks in which day you visit the lake, and you plan the hours around it yourself.

- Access
- Gate 8:00–20:00; cars cannot come or go 20:00–8:00. Without a car, arrange the taxi or town bus in advance and check the booking conditions.
