Information we may collect
If you write to contact@anime-trail.com, we receive whatever you send: your email address, your name if you include one, and the content of your message.
To deliver pages and keep the site secure, our hosting and CDN provider processes standard technical logs (things like IP address and request details) as part of serving the site to your browser.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page views, visits, referring sites, country, device type, browser and operating system, and real-world page performance such as Core Web Vitals. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors' personal data, does not use cookies or localStorage to collect usage metrics, and does not track individual end users across its customers' Internet properties.
Google Analytics, only if you allow it
A banner at the bottom of the page asks whether we may use Google Analytics. If you allow it, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed, how people move between them, and actions on the site such as scrolling and clicking links. Until you allow it, Google Analytics is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google.
Once allowed, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (names beginning with _ga) to tell repeat visits from the same browser apart, and Google processes information such as your IP address, device, browser and approximate location to produce these reports. We do not send your name, email address or anything you type to Google Analytics, and we do not use it for advertising.
Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage, so we do not ask again on every page. You can change it at any time with the button below. If you withdraw your permission, we stop sending data and delete the Google Analytics cookies for this site.
How we use it
We use this information to reply to your message, to run, troubleshoot and keep the site secure, to understand site usage and improve our pages and their performance, and to see which booking links readers use.
Third-party services
AnimeTrail uses Cloudflare for hosting, CDN, DNS, Web Analytics and email routing. Messages sent to our contact address are forwarded through Cloudflare Email Routing to a mailbox at a separate email provider, which also processes them to deliver the message.
If you allow analytics, we also use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google. Google’s own privacy policy applies to the information it processes.
Affiliate links
The lodging guide, the rental car guide and the four itineraries (two and three days, by rail or by car) include affiliate links to Trip.com, and the four itineraries and the trains and tickets guide include affiliate links to Klook. Clicking one sends your browser directly to that site (for Klook, through Klook’s own affiliate redirect); the link carries the site’s own affiliate-attribution parameters, which we do not change. Once you leave AnimeTrail, that site’s own privacy policy and cookies apply.
If you have allowed analytics, we also record the click in Google Analytics. This helps us improve the site and see which booking links readers use. We record which service the link goes to, where it was on the page, which hotel or product it was for (for lodging links and Klook links) and the page language. What you book or buy on Trip.com or Klook is not sent to AnimeTrail’s Google Analytics.
What AnimeTrail does not currently do
AnimeTrail does not run a contact form, does not offer user accounts, and does not process payments. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not use analytics to identify visitors by name or to build advertising profiles.
No sale of information
We do not sell or rent the information we receive to anyone.
