Both places are on the way, so lunch costs you no extra bus or walk.

Owakudani curryOWAKUDANI KITCHEN, upstairs in Owakudani ropeway station. Day trip, and Day 1 of the 2-day trip.
- Why it is here
- You step off the ropeway and walk upstairs, so lunch and the steaming valley share the same stop. On the day trip you eat here between about 12:40 and 14:15; on the 2-day trip, from 12:00. The Owakudani curry with a soft-boiled egg and a vegetable curry are ¥1,650 each; the katsu curry is ¥1,850.
- Hours and closing days
- 10:30-16:00, last orders 15:30. Open every day.
- Watch out for
- No reservations. It takes JCB, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and UnionPay cards. If the ropeway is not running, you cannot get here: eat at Togendai instead.

Beef stew with house-baked breadCoffee & Vista, the top floor of Bakery & Table, by Moto-Hakone port. Day 2 of the 2-day trip.
- Why it is here
- The pirate ship docks next to it and Hakone Shrine is a walk away, so lunch fits between the shrine and the bus back, from about 11:45. Coffee & Vista has lunch plates with bread and salad: beef stew (¥2,860), chicken in demi-glace or a black beef curry (¥2,420 each), sandwich plates and a vegetarian minestrone (¥1,870).
- Hours and closing days
- Coffee & Vista 10:00-16:00, last orders 15:30. The ground-floor bakery is open 9:00-17:00 and the cafe one floor up 9:00-17:00. No regular closing day.
- Watch out for
- If Coffee & Vista is full, buy bread at the ground-floor bakery and eat it in the cafe one floor up.

Dinner
On the 2-day trip, eat at your hotel. You check in around 17:00, and going out again means another bus on the mountain roads. All five hotels in our stay guide have plans with dinner and breakfast. Dinner and breakfast at each hotel
On the day trip, you are back in Shinjuku at 19:45 (weekdays 20:06), so plan dinner in Tokyo.
