Where to eat on the Yuru Camp△ Yamanashi trip

The four rules

• Check closing days before you fix the date. Wednesday closes Eishodo and Orchard Cafe; Thursday closes Okuto Honten in Kofu; Monday and Tuesday close Chiyoda.
• Lunch-only kitchens stop when the food runs out, not at the advertised time. Arrive early rather than on the hour.
• Carry cash. Hottarakashi Onsen states it takes cash only, and payment methods at small businesses change without notice.
• At Shimobe-Onsen most room rates include dinner. If yours does not, settle dinner before you arrive: there is no convenience store and the restaurants close early.

Kofu Station — the widest choice, and the latest

Everything here is a few minutes on foot from the station hotels, so nothing has to be planned around travel time. Both trips sleep here on at least one night.

• Kosaku Kofu Ekimae — hoto, horse sashimi and tori-motsu-ni. Open daily, 11:00–22:00 Monday to Saturday and 11:00–21:00 on Sundays.
• Okuto Honten Kofu Ekimae — the restaurant credited with Kofu tori-motsu-ni, plus handmade soba. Closed Thursdays, except when Thursday is a public holiday, in which case it closes the next day instead. 11:00–14:30 and 17:00–20:00, last orders 19:30. Note that the Kokubo branch closes on Wednesdays; this is the one by the station.
• Kiri — handmade soba and izakaya dishes, open until 02:00. The answer when your limited express arrives late. Closed Wednesdays.
• Chiyoda — the originator of ozara, the chilled version of hoto. Closed Monday and Tuesday, and evening hours vary by day.
• Marujyu Pan Honten — a bakery from 06:30, useful for an early departure. 06:30–18:00 on weekdays, 06:30–17:00 at weekends and on holidays.

Isawa-Onsen — for night 1 of the 3-day route

The area where staying without dinner included makes the most sense, because the alternatives are a short walk away.

• Daisangen — raho, the local ramen-and-hoto hybrid. Three minutes by car from Hotel Hana Isawa. Closed Monday and Tuesday; 11:30–14:30 and 17:00–22:00.
• Kitakaido — Koshu horse-meat donburi and seafood, three minutes on foot from Hotel Hana Isawa. Irregular closing days; current listings give 11:30–14:00 and 17:30–23:00.
• Kosaku Isawa Ekimae-dori — the same hoto, with 40 free parking spaces. The easiest option if you are driving.
• Torisei — charcoal yakitori, five minutes on foot from Hotel Hana Isawa. Current listings show a 17:00 opening, but the closing time and rest days are unconfirmed; phone before you go.
• Akafuji — hoto and other local dishes, three minutes on foot from Meiseki-no-yado Kagetsu. Hours and closing days differ between sources and are unconfirmed; phone before you go.

Shimobe-Onsen and Minobu — plan this one in advance

The area where "we will find something" does not work. Two restaurants in front of the station, and an early close.

• Fujikawa — Koshu beef steak and teppanyaki, one minute from the station and close to Shimobe Hotel. Closed Thursdays; the restaurant’s own listing gives 11:00–14:30 and 17:00–21:00, which differs from the regional tourism site. Confirm before you go.
• Maruichi Shokudo — the sakura shrimp donburi above, and the more reliable lunch of the two.
• Onrin, Minobusan — curry and yuba dishes at the temple gate, about 20 minutes by car from Shimobe-Onsen. Irregular closing days; 09:00–17:00, from 08:00 at weekends and on holidays.
• New Baigetsu — kakushi monaka and hot spring manju, a couple of minutes from the station. Hours and closing days are unconfirmed; phone before you go.

Yamanashi City — fruit, hoto and one seasonal stop

Both routes spend an afternoon here on Day 1, so these fit without any detour.

• Orchard Cafe at Machi-no-Eki Yamanashi — the seasonal parfait both trips stop for. Closed Wednesdays. Listed hours differ (09:00–19:00 from the operator, 10:00–17:00 with last order 16:30 from the city tourism association), so check before you go.
• Fuunari Honten — the award-winning golden hoto, two minutes from the north exit of Yamanashishi Station. Closed Mondays; 11:30–14:00 and 17:00–23:00.
• La Pesca — a whole-peach parfait from a peach grower. Seasonal: the official site gives 25 June to early October in 2026, 10:00–16:30, closed Mondays. Orders are taken from 09:00 and can close early when busy.
• Bellavista — seasonal fruit parfaits inside Fruit Park Fujiya Hotel. Open daily, 07:30–17:00, with the cafe from 10:00 and food from 10:30.
• Sakagura Kai — a 200-year-old farmhouse beside a sake brewery, about seven minutes by car. Closed Mondays; reservations advised in the evening.

Around Lake Motosu — beyond the Koan shop

Thin on options, which is why the Koan shop does most of the work on the Lake Motosu day.

• Matsukaze — venison curry and game dishes, five minutes by car from Koan at the Motosu junction. Irregular closing days; 11:00–15:00 on weekdays, and from 10:00 until sunset at weekends and on holidays, so the closing time moves with the season.
• Shoji Lake Hotel restaurant — wakasagi and Koshu wine beef, ten minutes by car from Koan. 11:30–14:30 and 17:30–20:00.
• Menkyo Kaiden — Yoshida udon, in Fujiyoshida rather than by the lake. Only worth including if your route continues that way: 11:00–14:00, closed Sundays, and it closes when the noodles run out.
